Guild

The Process Engineering Guild of The University of Oulu (Oulun Yliopiston Prosessikilta ry), founded in 1961, is the subject society for those studying process engineering as well as mineral resources and sustainable mining at the University of Oulu. The guild’s purpose is to advocate for its members’ interests within the university, help new members get acquainted with university life and student culture, introduce them to career-specific topics in their field, maintain connections with industry organizations, collaborate with other guilds at the University of Oulu and in other institutions, organize various leisure activities for its members, and foster and maintain relationships between students and companies in their field. The guild also works in cooperation with the umbrella organization for the engineering guilds at the University of Oulu, the Technical Students Association Oulu (Oulun Teekkariyhdistys ry or OTY), as well as the Student Union of the University of Oulu (Oulun Yliopiston Ylioppilaskunta or OYY).

Guild room

The Process Engineering Guild’s guild room is located along the Prosessikäytävä, in the basement level of the V1 stairwell. The guild’s facilities have been in this location since 1993. The guild room has a cozy living room-style front area equipped with a TV, speakers, a foosball table, plush couches, and a kitchen. In the kitchen area, you’ll find the guild room kiosk, where members can grab much-needed coffee or snacks, such as chocolate, during lecture breaks. The back room is designed for studying, furnished with tables and chairs. It also features a dartboard to satisfy members’ dart-throwing cravings. The innermost room houses the boardroom, primarily intended for use by the guild’s board. There, the guild’s printer and scanner work almost non-stop.
